“I was born in Japan and lived there until the age of 22. Growing up, I lived with my stepfather, who practiced a sect of Japanese Buddhism associated with the monk who introduced the Lotus Sutra. This sect emphasized the practice of chanting specific phrases for extended periods.

My understanding of Buddhism has primarily come from self-study and practicing the Eightfold Right Paths reflection method, as explained in detail by the renowned Japanese author Mr. Shinji Takahashi. His interpretation of Gaudama Buddha’s teachings deeply resonated with me.”

“More than 2,500 years ago, Buddha sought to guide those who were often overlooked people who were ignorant and illiterate, many of whom belonged to the lowest caste. The Lotus Sutra beautifully conveys this idea through the metaphor of a lotus flower, which rises from a muddy pond to bloom in purity. Buddha is also said to have spoken about the impurities of the human body such as “excrement, earwax, and nasal mucus” to illustrate that nothing produced by the human body is inherently beautiful. However, through enlightenment, one can transcend these physical limitations and create beauty in life, just as the lotus flourishes despite its origins.”
